Week 11 Blog Post Assignment

This week we’ll read about science fiction/speculative fiction, and we’ll read a short science fiction story that features physics concepts. You’ll find the Haraway reading a bit challenging at first, but bear in mind it is an acceptance speech for a lifetime achievement award for science fiction scholarship. IT is, in many ways, her love letter to SF. It is also her discussion of how SF relates to science and to culture. One quote from this speech has become quite famous in science studies and science fiction studies:

It matters what matters we use to think other matters with; it matters what stories we tell to tell other stories with; it matters what knots knot knots, what thoughts think thoughts, what ties tie ties. It matters what stories make worlds, what worlds make stories.

For your blog post this week, use all three readings (and the video, if appropriate) to explain what this quote means to you. Be sure your area as specific and clear as possible. You’ll want to use examples quotes the Butler and Haraway articles and examples of specific moments from the Chiang story.
